Meet Your Therapist

As a therapist, I create a compassionate, supportive therapeutic space where you can feel safe to explore, heal, and grow.

I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities including Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and a Trauma-Informed approach to support you in understanding patterns, regulating emotions, self-empowerment, and developing practical tools for change.

My additional training in grief, trauma, and somatic therapy allows me to work holistically, helping you not just cope, but heal and grow. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or struggling with past wounds, or coercive control concerns, I’m here to walk alongside you with care, insight, and a deep respect for your unique journey.

Therapies Used

CBT focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours. Clients learn practical strategies to reframe negative thinking and develop healthier coping skills for managing distress.

DBT combines cognitive-behavioural techniques with mindfulness to help clients manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and tolerate distress. Moreover, DBT is especially effective for individuals with emotion regulation difficulties or self-destructive behaviours.

ACT helps clients accept difficult thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them, while also committing to values-based actions. Furthermore, it emphasizes psychological flexibility by incorporating mindfulness and self-compassion practices.

MBCT blends mindfulness practices with cognitive therapy to prevent relapse in depression and manage anxiety. Clients learn to observe thoughts non-judgmentally and reduce reactivity to emotional triggers.

MI is a collaborative, goal-oriented approach that helps individuals resolve ambivalence and strengthen motivation for change. It is particularly effective for behaviour change in areas like substance use or health habits.

Narrative therapy centers on helping client’s re-author the stories they tell about their lives. By separating the person from the problem, it empowers individuals to reshape their identities and reclaim agency.

Grounded in empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity, person-centered therapy creates a supportive environment for self-discovery and growth. The therapist acts as a non-directive guide, trusting the client’s inner resources.

SFBT emphasizes strengths and future-oriented goals rather than focusing on problems or past experiences. Clients are encouraged to envision their preferred future and identify small, achievable steps toward it.

Psychodynamic therapy explores unconscious processes, early experiences, and relational patterns that influence current behaviour. It fosters insight into internal conflicts and emotional wounds, aiming for long-term change through self-awareness.

Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy

What is therapy?

Therapy (also known as counselling or psychotherapy) is a collaborative process where you work with a trained mental health professional to explore concerns, develop coping strategies, and improve emotional well-being.

How do I know if I need therapy?

People seek therapy for many reasons—feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, experiencing relationship issues, going through life transitions, or simply wanting to grow and gain insight. If you’re feeling stuck or struggling, therapy can help.

What happens in a therapy session?

Sessions typically involve open conversation about your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and experiences. Your therapist may ask questions, offer reflections, and provide tools or exercises to support your goals.

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy varies. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others engage in therapy for several months or longer. The frequency and duration depend on your goals and needs.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy is confidential, and your privacy is protected by law. There are a few exceptions—such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of abuse—that your therapist will explain in the first session.

How do I get started?

You can get started by completing the contact form or emailing the clinic directly to schedule a consultation or initial appointment. We offer a free consultation to learn how we can best support you.

What should I expect in the first session?

The first session is typically a time to gather information, discuss what brings you to therapy, and talk about goals. It’s also a chance to see if the therapist feels like a good fit for you.

How often will we meet?

Most clients meet weekly, especially at the start. Depending on your needs and progress, sessions might become biweekly or monthly.

Can therapy really help me?

Yes. Many people find therapy to be deeply helpful. It provides a safe, nonjudgmental space to process, heal, and grow. The effectiveness depends on many factors and often depends on your openness and the quality of the therapeutic relationship.

What if I don’t feel comfortable with my therapist?

A good fit is essential. If you don’t feel comfortable or supported, it’s okay to bring it up or explore working with someone else. Therapists understand the importance of fit and won’t take it personally.

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?

We offer both in-person sessions in Mississauga and online across Ontario.

Do you accept insurance?

Psychotherapy services are often covered by insurance; however, we recommend checking with your provider to confirm the details of your specific plan. Please note that we do not bill insurance companies directly.
