About Your Therapist
As a couples therapist, one of the most rewarding parts of my work is witnessing couples heal, grow, and thrive together.
I draw on my professional training to help partners navigate challenges, strengthen their connection, and build healthier relationships. I’ve completed The Gottman Method training along with other couples therapy modalities like EFT and Psycohdynamic Therapy. I work with couples navigating a wide range of challenges, from communication struggles and emotional disconnection to infidelity and major life transitions.
Using an integrative approach, I meet couples with empathy, care, and understanding. I recognize how life’s complexities can strain even the strongest relationships, and I’m here to support your desire to restore connection, foster understanding, and create lasting, meaningful change.
Therapies Used
The Gottman Method is based on years of research and helps couples strengthen their relationship through effective communication, emotional support, and conflict management. It focuses on building friendship, managing conflict constructively, and creating shared meaning in the relationship.
EFT for couples helps partners understand and express their emotions in a safe, supportive environment. By identifying negative emotional cycles and deepening emotional responsiveness, couples can rebuild trust and create a stronger emotional bond. EFT focuses on helping partners feel seen, heard, and supported, fostering a deeper sense of security and connection in the relationship.
CBT in couples therapy helps partners identify negative patterns of thinking and behaviour that contribute to conflict. By learning how to challenge and change these patterns, couples can develop healthier ways to communicate and interact, improving their relationship dynamics.
ACT encourages couples to embrace difficult emotions and thoughts without judgment, while focusing on what truly matters in their relationship. Couples learn to align their actions with their values, which fosters deeper connection and acceptance, even in tough times.
MBCT in couples therapy helps partners develop greater awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Through mindfulness, couples can break free from reactive patterns and create more space for understanding and compassion in their relationship.
Narrative therapy invites couples to view their relationship challenges as external problems, rather than internal flaws. By re-framing their stories, couples can regain control over their relationship narrative and find new ways to work together toward a positive future.
Person-centered therapy fosters a safe, empathetic space where both partners can openly express their feelings and experiences. The therapist offers unconditional support, which helps couples build trust, deepen their emotional connection, and better understand each other’s needs.
SFBT focuses on finding practical solutions and identifying what is already working well in the relationship. Couples are encouraged to set clear, achievable goals, focus on strengths, and build on the positive aspects of their relationship to create meaningful change.
Psychodynamic therapy explores the unconscious patterns and past experiences that may be affecting a couple’s relationship today. By understanding these deeper dynamics, couples can gain insight into recurring issues and develop healthier ways to relate to one another.
Frequently Asked Questions
About Couples Therapy
What is couples therapy?
Couples therapy is a form of psychotherapy that supports partners in improving communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening their emotional connection. It offers a safe space to explore challenges with the guidance of a trained therapist.
How do we know if we need couples therapy?
Couples seek therapy for many reasons like frequent arguments, feeling disconnected, trust issues, parenting stress, life transitions, or simply wanting to strengthen their relationship. If you’re feeling stuck or struggling to connect, therapy can help.
What happens in a couple’s therapy session?
Sessions typically involve both partners meeting with the therapist to explore patterns, improve communication, and understand each other more deeply. The therapist may guide discussions, introduce tools, or offer structured exercises to support your goals.
Will the therapist take sides?
No. The therapist’s role is to support the relationship as a whole, not to judge or take sides. The goal is to create a balanced space where both partners feel heard, respected, and supported.
What if one of us is unsure about attending therapy?
It’s common for one partner to feel hesitant. A good first step is to attend a consultation session to explore what therapy might look like and decide together whether it’s the right fit.
Can couples therapy help us if we’re considering separation or divorce?
Yes. Couples therapy can support you in making thoughtful decisions—whether you’re working toward repair or navigating a separation with care and clarity.
How long does couples therapy usually take?
The length of therapy depends on your goals and the complexity of your concerns. Some couples benefit from just a few sessions, while others engage in longer-term work.
How often do we meet?
Most couples begin with weekly sessions. As progress is made, sessions may shift to biweekly or monthly, depending on your needs.
Do you offer virtual couples therapy?
Yes, we offer both in-person and secure video sessions for couple’s therapy.
Is what we share in therapy confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is an essential part of therapy. There are some legal exceptions (such as safety concerns), which your therapist will explain in the first session.
What if we argue during a session?
It’s okay. Disagreements are a natural part of couple’s work. The therapist will help you navigate difficult conversations in a more productive and respectful way.
Can we also meet with the therapist individually?
In some cases, brief individual check-ins may be part of the process, but the focus remains on the couple. Your therapist will explain their approach to individual meetings at the start of therapy.
Do you accept insurance for couples therapy?
Psychotherapy services are often covered by insurance; however, we recommend checking with your provider to confirm the details of your specific plan regarding couple’s therapy. Please note that we do not bill insurance companies directly.
How do we get started?
You can begin by reaching out through the contact form or scheduling a consultation. We’ll discuss your needs and determine if couples therapy is the right next step.
